First and foremost, though, he is a highly trained surgeon. Dr. Fishman has spent most of the 1980s and into the 90s learning and perfecting his craft. He went to Wayne State University as an undergraduate and medical school and followed that with training in general surgery at Providence Hospital in Southfield, MI. He completed plastic surgery training in Ohio and capped his schooling off in 1991 with fellowship training in hand surgery followed by fellowship training in Craniofacial surgery. He views his doctor-patient relationships as honest, collaborative efforts. This means Dr. Fishman takes special care to understand each patient's goals - and in return he educates them about the feasibility of meeting those expectations. Because of his expertise - Fishman is in demand. He performs reconstructions as well as cosmetic surgical procedures out of four local hospitals. Fishman sees about 700 new patients a year .
